Since 2008, IBM and Fortinet have been working together to strengthen cloud networks and workloads. The latest collaboration introduces the Fortinet Virtual FortiGate Security Appliance, which integrates the capabilities of Fortinet’s FortiGate hardware firewall with the flexibility of virtual appliances, now available on IBM Cloud. This offering aims to enable clients to safeguard their networks carrying sensitive traffic and data, ensuring high availability amidst evolving security risks.

The vFSA on IBM Cloud operates as a virtual security appliance, featuring FortiFlex, a flexible usage-based licensing program. This model enables organizations to dynamically adjust their services and spending while reinforcing cloud and hybrid environments. Clients can leverage automated deployments, simple migrations, and on-demand upgrades to streamline operations and enhance security posture.

The benefits extend across various industries:

Financial Services: For institutions managing regulated application workloads and sensitive data, vFSA facilitates compliance with standards like SOC 2 by monitoring and filtering network traffic.

Retail: Retailers can maintain visibility and security controls across hybrid and multi-cloud environments, supporting agile migration of applications and ensuring optimized time-to-market for omnichannel solutions.

Manufacturing: Amid the transition of critical applications to the cloud, manufacturing clients can utilize vFSA to monitor and filter network traffic, particularly for remote access and IoT devices, bolstering security measures.

Beyond IBM Cloud, IBM collaborates with Fortinet within Fortinet’s Open Ecosystem to deliver comprehensive managed security services and technology solutions.
