Addressing Explosive Growth in Data and Rising Network Complexities with Scalable Network Intelligence – The Fast Mode

3 minutes, 33 seconds Read

In a recent interview, Ariana Lynn, Principal Analyst at The Fast Mode spoke to Petros Katimertzoglou, Senior Vice President, Head of the Engagement and Experience Business Unit at Mobileum on the impact of traffic visibility on modern IP networks. Petros joins us in a series of discussions with leading networking, analytics and cybersecurity companies, assessing the need for traffic filtering technologies that can deliver real-time, granular application awareness. The series explores how advanced analytics power various network functions amidst the rapid growth in traffic and applications.

Ariana: How do your solutions and products fulfill the demands of today’s networks?

Petros: In today’s hyper-connected world, network Quality of Experience (QoE) plays a crucial role in how we live, work, and interact. Rising customer expectations for seamless connectivity pose a significant challenge to Communication Service Providers (CSPs) who need to constantly track their network performance, immediately remediate degradations, and ensure superior customer service to survive competition.

Mobileum’s Active Intelligence Platform Deep Network Analytics (DNA) offers a complete portfolio of solutions enabling CSPs to:

  1. Monitor network performance in real-time and historically with multi-dimensional analytics (e.g., location, RAT, application, device, etc.).
  2. Remediate network degradations as they occur with automated alerts and efficient root cause identification.
  3. Optimize network planning and capacity expansions.
  4. Track QoE at the individual subscriber and subscriber segment level.
  5. Understand subscribers’ digital behavior and customize their offerings in line with true customers’ needs.
  6. Capitalize on data monetization opportunities and forge new digital partnerships.

Ariana: How effective is deep packet inspection (DPI) technology in addressing today’s traffic complexities?

Petros: In this highly interconnected era, consumers have become more data-intensive than ever, driving data traffic at exponential growth rates. What’s more, the abundance of new digital applications and traffic encryption is now adding another layer of complexity and the need for real-time processing and timely insights.

This has left legacy deep packet inspection (DPI) technology struggling to cope with this new world order. Not only do traditional DPI solutions require significant investment in costly hardware infrastructure, but they also lack the scalability and DPI analytics capabilities required to meet the demands of the ever-increasing volume and complexity of today’s network traffic.

Mobileum’s Active Intelligence Platform with Deep Network Analytics (DNA) technology leverages a high-performance, multi-threaded inspection engine capable of high rates of massive data processing to enable fast and precise decisions. From data inspection to mediation and insights delivery, Mobileum delivers CSPs with industry-leading analytics power and capabilities to:

  • Process up to 160Gbps of traffic per node.

    • with an 80% reduced hardware footprint versus the next leading provider
    • Surface more and deeper dimensions of data than any other in the industry
    • detecting more than 28K apps and components, 30K devices, and 15M domains
    • Offer true real-time analytics, enabling live indexing of up to 1M events per second per node.
