HINSDALE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – The Hinsdale School District has wrapped up the investigation of a cyber security incident that occurred last December.

The district was the subject of a network security incident that impacted operations at the schools on December 7th, 2023. At the time, all school laptops were collected from students and staff, and all were advised to refrain from logging into any of their school related accounts on their personal devices.

After learning of the attack, the district immediately began investigating with external cybersecurity professionals with experience handling that type of incident, to determine if there was any unauthorized access to protected information.

According to a letter sent to those who may have been affected last week, after an extensive forensic investigation and document review that wrapped up recently, the district discovered that between November 2, 2023, and December 7, 2023, a limited amount of information stored on their network may have been accessed.

That information included full names and social security numbers.

As a result, the district is offering a complimentary year of identity protection services to those who may have been affected. The letter also advises other precautionary measures, such as placing a fraud alert or security freeze on your credit files or obtaining a free credit report.
